Watercolor Snacks Review and Giveaway
Rocky Nook "loves making beautiful educational books for creative people", and I was pretty excited to receive one for review.
• Easy watercolor tips, tricks, and techniques
• Recommended supplies (the “ingredients”)
• Color theory basics
• Maximizing mindful benefits of watercolor
• How-to lessons for 30 foods from breakfast to dessert
When I received this book I thought it was the perfect book for my artistic daughter whose specialty is watercolors. She loves expressing herself through this art medium and she is also a foodie in training so it was a perfect match. After perusing the book she was inspired to create this watercolor of avocado toast.
Taking some tips from the pages of Watercolor Snacks and her own imagination she came up with this art piece. She thinks this book is great and for a beginner and even someone with a little more experience in watercolors. I've asked her to cook me up some more watercolor treats and I can't wait to see them.
This book can be purchased online via the Rocky Nook web page as well as on amazon. You should also check out some more finely crafted books from Rocky Nook, everything from food photography to graphic design. whatever stirs your creativity you are sure to find a book published by Rocky Nook.
How would you like to get your eyes and hands on a copy of Watercolor Snacks? This giveaway is open to US residents. Please leave a valid email address so that you can be contacted if you are the winner.

Dress up your walls! Stay tuned...
A few weeks ago, tired of looking at our tan colored bedroom walls, my husband and I decided it was time to paint. After much deliberating on the color we decided on black. I know what you are thinking, really black? But, I had a vision. In my mind I was picturing black walls with some kind of cool accent wall to give it a bit of a modern feel. Maybe a geometric pattered wall paper or something with bright colors to give it some pop. Even though we still hadn't decided on what we were going to do, and despite all the naysayers. We went with it and painted our bedroom black.
I actually think it looks pretty good. I've always liked things on the darker side and tend to stray from the norm. Still trying to figure out what we were going to do as far as an accent wall, fate sent me a little nudge by way of an email. I was contacted by a company called Photowall and asked if I would be interested in reviewing one of their products on Girly Girl. I checked out their website and lo and behold Photowall makes custom wallpaper, wall murals and art prints to fit any size wall. You can even have one of your beloved personal photos made into a wall mural! I was so excited I immediately starting looking through their huge selection of products for some inspiration. Their wallpapers come in a wide range of styles ranging from Art & Design to Nature motifs to Cities & Places and even designs that would look adorable in a children's room. The literally have 1000's of designs to chose from. It was very hard to narrow it down to just one. Here are some of my faves that I had a hard time deciding on...
I really like this mid-century mod wallpaper. It really gives something extra to a clean and functional modern room.
I also think this simple geometric grid would add a nice contrast to the black walls.
