Prefense Review and Giveaway

CLOSED
Congratulations! Winner #37 rubynreba

My daughter Penelope started going to preschool in February and within a week of starting she got a really bad cold, since then she has been sick two more times. I was told by other moms that this is what usually happens once a child starts school, with all those nasty little germs hanging around. Prior to starting school Penelope was not around other children and had only been sick a couple of times with mild colds. After watching her suffer from what seemed like a never ending runny nose I started thinking of things I could do to not only prevent her from getting sick, but also stop her from spreading those germs to her new little friends. I was searching the Internet one day and I came across a review for Prefense Silica Based Hand Sanitizer. The review raved about this product and I knew I just had to contact Prefense and ask to review this product as well. Afterall that is what I love to do, find great new products and share them with all of you.
I have to admit I have never been a believer in hand sanitizers in the past but Prefense is not your traditional hand sanitizer. This stuff rocks! First of all it is 100% alcohol free which makes me feel safe about using it on my little one's hands. It is also contains organic botanicals which help to moisturize and prevent drying, redness, and chapping. Seriously my hands feel softer and smoother after applying Prefense. Even though these two things I have mentioned help make this hand sanitizer pretty great, it is not what makes it in my opinion THE BEST HAND SANITIZER EVER!!! Here is what does...one application of Prefense protects for 24 hours and up to 10 hand washings! That's right! And it is the only product that offers this long lasting protection.

"Prefense's active ingredient dries into an invisible, protective film that stands guard against pathogens you encounter throughout the day. If a transfer of germs occurs while Prefense is on defense, it actively slices the wall of pathogens you confront for up to 10 washings, whether wet or dry."

How amazing is that? Perfect when you are going to be on the go and especially great for kiddos in school. I just apply it on Penelope's hands every morning on school days and there's no reason to think about hand sanitizer again for the rest of the day. And get this... she hasn't been sick since we started using it! Coincidence? Try this stuff and I will let you decide.

Equal Exchange Coffee Review

Mambo Sprouts recently gave me the opportunity to try some Equal Exchange coffee. Equal Exchange is a company that supports small farmer co-ops with sustainable farming practices providing customers with high-quality and organic coffees, teas, chocolates, and snacks from around the world.

I was given both the Organic Love Buzz and Organic French Roast to try. I admit I am not a big coffee drinker. I have my occasional iced coffee and mocha but I am by no means a coffee expert. Still I was eager to try this stuff because I am however the person that purchases and prepares coffee for a self proclaimed coffee connoisseur, my husband. If there is anyone who is going to give me a no holds barred honest opinion about coffee it's him.

Organic Love Buzz is a combination of Equal Exchange's Full City and French Roast coffees. It is a coffee for those that love the taste of coffee. A dark roast with a complex flavor and bitter aftertaste. Even though I am not a big coffee drinker I do love the smell of brewing coffee. This stuff smells amazing! How does it taste? It was a little strong for more liking, this stuff has a kick, but then again I am not the coffee expert. So what did he think about this coffee? In his words " Man, this coffee is good! Where did you get this stuff??!!" That's right this coffee was rated an A+ by the coffee authority in my household. He described it as having a slight fruity and dark chocolate flavor. I am sure I will be buying this coffee in the near future.

Organic French Roast is another dark roast. It is not as strong and bitter tasting as Love Buzz but still has that intense flavor. I actually preferred this one. I found it smooth with a little sweetness to it. It makes some really yummy iced coffee! My husband also enjoyed this coffee. He did say it wasn't as good as Love Buzz but it was still high quality good tasting coffee.

These Equal Exchange coffees along with a variety of others can be purchased online or in supermarkets and natural food stores nationwide. If you are lucky enough to find them in a store near you, you can find money saving coupons to use on your purchase by visiting Mambo Sprouts online.

The Floral Flip N' Sip Stainless Steel Water Bottle Review

www.enviroproductsinc.com/
Convenient and safe reusable water bottles are important to me. I need an eco-friendly reusable bottle big enough to hold plenty of water. I don't want to have to refill it every five minutes, but I also want it small enough to easily carry in my hand, my kids' hands or in a bag. I want to be able to easily drink from the bottle too. So, the design of the bottle's cap also matters.  Enviro Products new designer series has a cap design that I really appreciate.

The review: I was sent one of the 20 oz. (600 ml) Floral Stainless Steel Water bottle from the new designer series to try and review. This water bottle isn't much different than most safe eco-friendly water bottles. It's lightweight and easy to carry. It's eco-friendly features include: #304 Food Grade Seriously Safe Stainless® and no hidden liners or Epoxy Resin. It is also BPA free.

However, the cap on the bottle is unique. The cap has a High Flow Flip N' Sip that allows my kids and I to quickly and easily drink from the bottle. We don't have to suck out or squeeze out the water in order to drink it. It flows out easily, but not excessively, just enough for a good sip.  Flip it up and quickly drink a sufficient amount of water, no spillage or embarrassment. Flip it down and it's closed, that quickly. Then put it in the bag and there is no spillage.  The grip on the cap is a great feature too. It makes it easier to carry and easier to open. The bottom of the grip has a bit of sharp edge and digs into the skin, but I plan on filing it down a bit to help reduce the sharpness.

Most caps for reusable water bottles are not as convenient as this one. For example, when pull-up caps are wet they are difficult to pull up and over time and use they become difficult to pull up at all. I often resort to using my teeth to pry them open. This leaves tooth marks on the cap and that's just a breeding zone for germs. Some pull up caps need double-checking; forget to push it down all the way and the water will spill out. Many pull up caps are low flow and it take forever to get a good sip.  Bottles with twist tops can sometimes be difficult to open, especially with sweaty hand or for kids and the elderly. During a workout when a quick sip is important, twist top bottles are frustrating to drink from because they take longer to open. Once open I have to worry about the wide mouth of the bottle. It makes it much easier to clean, but when in a hurry (during a workout) if I drink too quickly I'll spill it all over myself.

The durability: I’m rough on my bottles. My kids are too. We take them everywhere and we are clumsy with them. Most of our bottles have dents in them because we continue to drop them. I’ve only had this bottle for about a month and as much as I have dropped it already, I have yet to find any dents on it.

The concern: I'm not a big fan of painted reusable water bottles. Over time paint chips off or dulls. I haven't had my bottle more than a month and I can see the bottom of the bottle's paint already begin to chip. In my experience, this is a normal time frame for most reusable bottles with paints, but I would like to know what the paint is made with. Chipped paint is not something I want slipping into my kids or my water. I would also like to know how to clean or replace the flip/sip part of the cap. This is the part that touches the mouth. So, I think it is just as important it is as easy to clean as the bottle itself.

TheraBreath Probiotic Treatment Review and Giveaway

CLOSED
Congratulations! Winner #5 Kris

You might remember a couple of months ago I reviewed some TheraBreath products and was very impressed by them. I have since continued to use the toothpaste and mints and so when I was contacted again asked if I would like to review one of their newest products of course I said yes.

"The use of probiotics in health care is based on the scientific fact that a healthy level of "good" bacteria in the body can be very beneficial. These "good" bacteria occur naturally to some degree in most people and assist in many bodily functions (such as digestion). However not everyone has enough of every type of "good"bacteria in their system. Those that do, can sometimes demonstrate elevated resistance to a variety of germ related symptoms. Those that don't. can be more susceptible to various illnesses. Research suggests that increasing levels of some "good" bacteria can help the body to defend itself against hostile bacteria."

That's where TheraBreath's newest product TheraBreath Multi-Symptom Probiotics comes in.
This 7 day treatment is designed to reduce the amount of "bad" bacteria in your mouth while alleviating the symptoms they cause. These include bad breath, throat discomfort, ear aches, yellow coating on the tongue, and other tooth and gum problems. The 7 day treatment is very easy to follow. It includes 9 treatment powders as well as a small tube of TheraBreath toothpaste. The treatment powders are conveniently packaged in a cardboard tray that can be placed directly on your bathroom counter so that you don't forget to use it. Each powder packet is also clearly labeled telling you when to use. When I first opened up the box and read that I would need to mix the powder with water before use I thought it sounded like too much trouble. I was wrong. I keep mini paper cups in my bathroom and it was very easy to fill them halfway with water, pour the treatment powder in and mix it up. I was also concerned with the fact that the directions tell you to rinse for 60 seconds and then gargle for 30. The reason I was concerned because I just had the assumption that it would have a bad taste. I have a very bad gag reflex and if something taste bad I immediately have to spit it out. I was wrong again. The powder adds a very light citrus taste to the water, not unpleasant at all. It also cools your mouth leaving it feeling clean and refreshed. I don't know that I noticed anything different happening in my mouth during the 7 day treatment but it is recommended to repeat the treatment monthly to maintain the levels of beneficial bacteria. I am definitely interested in continuing to use this and other TheraBreath products.

TheraBreath products can be purchased online and in several retail stores. Check their online store locator to find a store near you.

The people at TheraBreath have offered one of our readers the chance to win another one of their products.
1 box of Mouth Wetting Lozenges. These are the same ones that I reviewed in my prior post.

To Enter: Visit TheraBreath online and tell me one of their products you are interested in trying. You can also get extra entries for liking TheraBreath on Facebook and following them on Twitter. As usual I will also give extra entries for folloing GGG through GFC, Subscribing via email, liking us on Facebook and following via Twitter.

This giveaway will end on June 30, 2011. I will choose the winner using Random.org. Please leave a valid email address if it is not visible in your profile. US entries only.
