For as long as I can remember I have been using Mrs. Butterworth's thick, sweet and delicious syrup to top my pancakes, waffles and even to dip my breakfast sausage in. Yum! Considering it has been around for over 40 years I am sure it has made the rounds on your breakfast table quite a few times as well. Now, for the first time, Mrs. Butterworth will look a little different then you may remember. To celebrate the holidays you can get the same loved syrup in limited edition holiday bottles. Fortunately for me I was sent one of these collector bottles to review. This morning I thought I would make Penelope a fun breakfast of french toast shaped like gingerbread men and stars to dip into our holiday syrup.

Mondays with Monica- It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

We finally got our trees today here in Homer, Alaska. Apparently they had been delayed due to some ice storms in Washington, at least that's what we were told. I am so excited to finally get our tree up! My husband put on some Christmas music while he, our little girl, and I decorated and got into the Christmas spirit. Here is our tree this year.

And to get you more into the holiday spirit I thought I would share a wonderful book I was recently given to review, A Christmas Carol: A Pop-Up Book by Charles Dickens, Chuck Fischer and paper engineer Bruce Foster. When I first heard about this book I was excited to receive it because A Christmas Carol is one of my favorite Christmas stories. I had no idea what to expect with a pop-up book version and when I finally received this I was blown away. This is a beautiful book! It is the classic story of Scrooge and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future filled with gorgeous artwork and amazing pop-up scenes that can be manipulated. Each page of the book unfolds into an intricate piece of artwork with a little pocket that holds the Christmas Carol story as written by Charles Dickens as well as a biography on him. It's a gorgeous book that would make a great gift for someone or keepsake for your family.

I have my copy displayed next to our Christmas tree for all to look at. If you have little ones that are curious you might want to put this book out of hands reach, it is very delicate. I would suggest displaying a different page each night and gathering the family together to read a part of the story aloud. What a great holiday tradition to start! Now I don't drink (alcohol) but I still find these super useful and have had many opportunities to use them. While I do own wine glasses I've also used them on mug handles and on my Mason jar glasses (which also have handles) because our glasses get mixed up at home, party or not! My girls love getting to choose which charm is theirs for their mug of hot cocoa or glass of water and I have peace of mind, especially during flu and cold season, that we're not spreading germs because all of our mugs and glasses are identical.

These charms definitely look best on wine glasses but it's okay to use them outside-the-box so you get the most use out of them all year 'round! We definitely enjoy them and keep them handy every day.

Gift Idea! Buy a gently used inexpensive tote at the resale shop and fill it up with eco-friendly money saving products. Don't forget the organic chocolate, the cloth napkins, the reusable water bottle and organic soaps.
