Operation GROW!

Alright soldiers I have a mission for you! Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to gain new Girly Girl recruits. We need to grow in number on this blog, Facebook and Twitter. There are many strategies to accomplish our goal.

It's very simple. Choose one or more of the many strategies available to help gain new followers. When you complete a mission leave me comments based on how many entries you have earned. If you earned 50 entries then you need to leave 50 comments. I'm disabling CAPTCHA to make this a lot quicker for you. Because of this I might get a lot of spam comments; if you notice any while making your entries please use the CONTACT tab and let me know about it in case I miss it.

Okay now here are your Mission Strategies!

1). Grab this NEW button and write a blog post about Girly Girl Giveaways. If you've won something in the past it would be great to give your own blurb about your winnings in the post. Mission is complete when the button is on your sidebar AND you've written a blog post using the button.

Gain FIVE entries for completing this mission. Must provide evidence (direct link to the post).
Please number your comments along with the mission number.

2). Tweet this: "GirlyGirlGiveaways is the girliest and greatest way to get giveaways: http://girlygirlgiveaways.blogspot.com"

Gain TWO entries for completing this mission. Can do it once a day for two entries a day.
Please number your comments along with the mission number.

3). Go to the Girly Girl Facebook page and click on SUGGEST TO FRIENDS under the profile picture. For EVERY person you suggest should follow Girly Girl Giveaways you get ONE entry. So if you suggest my Facebook page to 30 people you get 30 entries.
Please number your comments along with the mission number.

4). Email family and friends about Girly Girl Giveaways and BCC the message to njeosys at juno dot com.  Copy and paste this to the email:

"I've entered to win many fabulous giveaways at Girly Girl Giveaways! It is a blog written by a mom. She writes product reviews and offers giveaways to amazing companies like Frecklebox.com, Misikko.com, many Etsy artists and so much more! I am hoping you'd like to join Girly Girl Giveaways, too. Visit http://girlygirlgiveaways.blogspot.com and click on FOLLOW (right sidebar) where you can sign in with Google Friend Connect. I earn special entries for a prize when I get friends to join the blog! Thanks a million!"

For each email reference you make gain ONE entry. Email 20 people; get 20 entries.
Please number your comments along with the mission number.

5). And finally for every person that you refer that comes over here and follows Girly Girl Giveaways publicly via Google Friend Connect you gain THREE additional entries. When you leave your comment you must leave their blog URL so I can verify they are following Girly Girl Giveaways.
Please number your comments along with the mission number.

RULES
Entries for the prizes must be left on THIS post. When you leave an entry please be specific about which entry it is for AND number them so none of us gets confused. Your comments should look something like this:

"Strategy #4; Comment #26" or
"My friend at http://bloggityblogname.blogserver.com just followed you. Comment #3".

You CAN take your time with it and maybe divide it up so that you do one mission a day because you may get lots of entries.

Contest ends when we reach 1000 followers!

PRIZES:
When we hit 700 followers one of you will be randomly drawn to receive a $70 value prize pack.
When we hit 1000 followers or more one of you will be randomly selected to receive a $100 value prize pack.

If you succeed and surpass 1000 followers I may just have a few other surprises up my sleeves.

Believe me... you want the prizes!!! Some are actually made by me from my shops Joy Belle and What Girls Are Made Of. I may also throw in some other fun stuff from other sponsors!!!

Ready, set, GO!

INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY
*Please note that Girly Girl Giveaways LOVES her International buddies and anyone can win the prizes. So while most giveaways here are USA-based only I want to encourage my International friends to enter as well!

New Giveaway Guidelines

I have just revised how to enter giveaways to make things a little smoother. All entrants must now be a follower of Girly Girl Giveaways in order to enter giveaways.

The reasoning is twofold: first I want MY readers to win prizes. I spend a lot of time on this blog and want to reward those who are loyal to Girly Girl Giveaways. So if you are not following publicly (no anonymous followers or I cannot verify that you are truly following) do so!

Second is that the more followers I have the better prizes we are able to obtain for review AND to giveaway. So it means a lot to you, the readers, if everyone is honest as well! The first question I am asked when applying for reviews is for my blog stats, including my following. We've been turned down way more times than we've been accepted due to low stats. So a HUGE thank you is in order to sponsors who've given Girly Girl a chance. We are growing and it is so incredibly exciting!!!

What does it mean to 'follow' anyway? If you look on the right-hand sidebar you'll notice something called the Google Friend Connect. It has a button that says FOLLOW. When you want to follow a blog and have that blog show up in your Blogger feed you click on it. Make sure you sign in with your blog account and not anonymously. If I cannot verify that you follow I'll choose a different winner. I've done this many, many times. Some of you have been chosen as a winner for something but didn't get the prize because I couldn't find that you followed Girly Girl Giveaways.Thankfully that hasn't happened in a long time though.

PRIZE ALERT:
When we reach 700 followers I am giving away a $70 prize package to one reader from my shops (see MY ETSY link above!) and other sponsors. When we reach 1000 I want to giveaway a $100 prize pack to one reader. DETAILS TO COME!!!

I'm working on a new blog button. I know, such a hassle, but if everyone could change their blog button to the new one I would be eternally grateful. It makes it so much faster for me to look for one design when verifying entries. I will make an announcement when the new button is available!

So now that business is taken care of... what is everyone doing for Labor Day (US)?!
We're going to a potluck at some friends' house. Looking forward to great food and even better fellowship!

Giveaway- Lil Melon

 CLOSED
Winner 1- #31 Kendra
 Winner 2- #12 Jennifer Thompson

Lil' Melons is a wonderful online store that specializes in baby knee pads! These wonderful creations keep your baby's knees from getting red, sore, burned and scraped from scooting and crawling. They're super adorable and even better is that they are machine washable!

"Our baby knee pads allow your baby to explore the world freely without being stopped by bumps and aches. They are soft, versatile and easy to wear, just like socks!"

For a mom with hardwood floors these would be perfect for my crawling baby. Likewise if you have carpeting you can prevent harsh rug burns on your baby's delicate skin by using Lil' Melons! Another great way to use these is for your toddler when they're on the playground or out for a walk. I cannot tell you how many times my 3-year-old trips and falls right on her knees when we go on a walk! These would keep her from getting her knees scraped and possibly even infected.

I love these cute birdie ones which are now carried in toddler size (14-30 months):

Stitchez Baby Boutique

Have you noticed the wonderful new layout for shops on Etsy? As a seller and buyer I'm loving it! It took some time to get used to but now I think it looks so crisp and clean. And one shop that looks absolutely amazing with this new layout is Stitchez Baby Boutique. This boutique specializes in appliqued and stitched clothing and each girly outfit comes with a matching hair accessory. These are so super adorable!

We received a onesie for Miss Zoë from Stitchez Baby Boutique's Halloween line. Zoë was born a week before Halloween so we got her a size 12-month onesie with a super cute pumpkin and her name. It's still a tad large for her (she's 10-months-old right now) but will be perfect at her birthday! Note that the tutu was NOT from Stitchez Baby Boutique but she does carry tutu outfits so be sure to check those out!

Here is Zoë wearing her onesie (she wouldn't keep the SUPER cute matching bow on so it's not pictured):

Danielle, the artist of Stitchez Baby Boutique, used a technique that causes the edges of the pumpkin to fray with washing, giving the applique a more grunge feel. Which I LOVE! I love me some grunge. The stitching itself is impeccable. I also love that she can do larger appliques. Most artists I've come across can only do 4" designs but I like larger designs that fill the shirt or onesie.

Danielle's current turnaround for Halloween is 2-3 weeks so if you need an adorable outfit or costume make sure you get your order in very soon. Her shipping costs are also really, really low! I always point that out because some people buffer their shipping costs so they earn a little extra. I love how fair Stitchez Baby Boutique is with their pricing and shipping!

Check out this super cute outfit on my Christmas wishlist:

Whatever the occasion, whether a gift for a new baby or a cute outfit for the first day of school you will find something you love at Stitchez Baby Boutique. Do you see something there that YOU love?! Tell me about it!

The comments expressed here are honest and based on my experience using a free item that I received from Stitchez Baby Boutique. The gift did not, in any way, affect my ability to honestly review this business.

Harry the Happy Caterpillar Grows

We were so excited to receive a copy of Harry the Happy Caterpillar Grows by Cynthia Jett, a licensed psychotherapist and social worker. This childrens' book is about how Harry, a very happy caterpillar, is so content with his life and the way things are that he becomes fearful when he learns he must build a chrysalis and morph into a butterfly.

Harry reminds me a lot about me. Even though this was a book for children I really related to the little guy. And I could see that his story affected my daughters, too. They've had so many changes in life; from a new baby sister to new pets and starting school. Even the smallest change in an adult's point of view can be very overwhelming to a small child.

This book is appropriate for ages 4-10, with coping strategies and discussion tips at the end. This book is part of New Horizon Press' "Let's Talk" series for young children.

In the book Harry became very overwhelmed and afraid of the changes he was going to go through. He was so happy being a caterpillar that he couldn't imagine that being a butterfly could be better. But as his friends began to make the transformation he felt left behind and ultimately realized that change was going to happen whether he wanted it to or not. His teacher helped him to overcome his fear and in the end he was able to make the transformation and still be as happy as a butterfly as he was as a caterpillar!

I think it is so important to encourage our children to embrace change, to let them know that changes can be fun. For instance, getting to grow a little older means getting to stay up a little later than younger siblings or that having a new baby join the family gives him the Big Boy status and lots of privileges the baby doesn't get. Or perhaps a new house means she gets to decorate a new room.

There are so many changes our children can go through and I think this book does a great job of encouraging young children that changes will come in life but that they don't have to be scary, that the end result could be fun! The pictures are clear and wonderfully done with bright colors that captivate and hold your child's attention.

Elaina has learned about caterpillars and butterflies in school so I think being able to relate to a subject or character that she is familiar with was also really beneficial to holding her attention on the book because she knew Harry would have to go through the metamorphosis to become a butterfly. His fear over the change was very eye-opening to my 5-year-old as she has had many fears during these early school years.

If you have big changes coming up in your lives and need a good read to help your child get through the changes I strongly recommend Harry the Happy Caterpillar which you can find at Amazon.

You can also visit Harry the Happy Caterpillar for more information on the book!

This was not a paid advertisement. All opinions expressed are completely honest based on our experience with the product. Our family did receive a book for free in order to give our honest opinion on the book. Thank you Cynthia!
