Winner #33 Small Footprints
Devo Olive Oil Co. is a gourmet foods company out of Missouri that specializes in a variety of oils, vinegars, salts & seasonings and fresh pastas. Their selection of olive oils include fresh cold pressed extra virgin olive oils from around the world. They carry several infused olive oils that sound very intriguing. Some of these include Wild Mushroom and Sage Olive Oil, Chipotle Olive Oil, and Cilantro and Roasted Onion Olive Oil. These olive oils are great for cooking, marinades and even for dipping. I was given the opportunity to choose one of their olive oils for review and with all the wonderful selections it wasn't easy for me to choose just one. I finally settled on their Blood Orange Olive Oil.
Luckily for us Tunisian Blood Oranges ripen at the exact time as their olives (Chetoui and Chemlali variety). We have them pressed together to obtain this beautiful citrus olive oil. Notes: Blood Orange is one of our most popular since it is so versatile; use it on fish and seafood, chicken, duck, summer salads, and grilled stone fruits.
Immediately upon opening the bottle of Blood Orange Olive Oil you get a strong citrus aroma. Originally I had planned to use it in a marinade for fish but I decided instead in a Caprese salad. I was having the girls over for appetizers and a movie and I thought they would make the best taste testers.
Caprese Salad
1 pint of cherry tomatoes sliced in half
Fresh mozzarella sliced into small cubes
15 to 20 fresh basil leaves
Juice from 1 lemon
1 garlic clove minced

Salt & Pepper
Put the tomatoes and cheese in a large bowl. Chop up the basil leaves and place in a smaller bowl. Mix with lemon juice and garlic and then slowly add the olive oil while mixing. Pour over the tomatoes and cheese and mix well. Season with salt and pepper.

The salad was a hit! The olive oil gave it an unexpected and delicious twist. It is too bad I was only sent just a small bottle to sample because I think this stuff would have been great as a marinade as well.
If you are interested in trying Devo Olive Oil Co. products they can be purchased online. Have a hard time deciding which oil to try first like I did? Your in luck because they also sell sample packs of 9 and 16 mini bottles so you can try them all. And don't forget the holidays, they sell gift baskets that would make the perfect gift for that foodie in your life.
