The snow is coming and it is getting cold. The winter time brings hot and hearty meals that make us feel warm and cozy. Gooseberry Patch always has good cookbooks with meals that anyone can make. I'm excited to share 101 Hearty Recipes with you and your family.

JoAnn & Vickie, creators of 101 Hearty Recipes, have four chapters of great recipes. These chapters include Fun and Filling, Speedy and Satisfying, Casual and Comforting, and my favorite Baked and Buttery. This book includes everything from easy meals like the "Santa Fe Sandwiches", "Bavarian Beef & Noodles" to the "Mocha-Oatmeal Cake". 101 Hearty Recipes has so many different meals that you'll have a hard time choosing which one to make first!

I decided to try two of the recipes from the book for my family. The first recipe I tried was the Chocolate Rolls. They were very easy to make with very few ingredients. They are a light and airy pastry. These are better when eaten right away while they are still warm, as with any pastry, and they won't last long. They are perfect served alongside a scoop of ice cream! This was a great example of what's in store with this cook book.

They second recipe that I made was Pull-Apart Bacon Bread. This was a great, easy and quick dinner and a definite winner. This is a great idea for a quick and easy meal. Whats better than butter biscuits, cheese and bacon. This is a filling and delicious meal to make any night of the week. The best part is this recipe can be altered if you don't have all of the ingredients. You can add ham, sausage or any sort of vegetables you may have in the fridge.
